There is a monthly cycle of services at St. Edward's, adjusted when necessary to take account of Church Festivals. The following details the standard pattern that is normally followed:
This is a said service (there is normally no music). It alternately follows the Book of Common Prayer and the Church of England's 'Common Worship' pattern of service.
The Family Service is an act of worship for everyone of any age and depth of faith. There is no communion during it. The service is led by either a member of the clergy or, occasionally, a member of the congregation. There is no formal pattern for the service, the leader deciding what he or she wishes to include.
The hymns are normally accommpanied by the music group and are generally taken from the modern repertoire of worship songs.
The Communion Service is taken from Common Worship.
This Communion Service is also taken from Common Worship, but is a simpler version of the service. It is particular suitable for those who wish to move on from the non-communion Family Service.
The Communion Service is taken from Common Worship.
On the first Sunday in each month there is later morning Holy Communion following the pattern of worship in the Book of Common Prayer.
This is the normal time when Baptisms take place, although it is sometimes possible to accommodate them during the 10.00 service. If you wish to make arrangements for a baptism, please contact the clergy: Contacts
This Communion Service is taken from Common Worship and in addition to receiving Communion the congregation are invited to be specially prayed over by the clergy for healing.
This service follows the Evening Prayer format in Common Worship.
This service basically follows either the Common Worship or Book of Common Prayer format for Evensong, but with a greater emphasis on music than the other Sunday evening services. The Songs of Praise and Choral Evensong formats alternate month by month.
