Hob Moor, Dringhouses, is part of Micklegate Stray. It is a 90-acre public open space and a local nature reserve with a long and fascinating history and its ecology is of great importance. A fully descriptive 100-page book is available from the Friends. Visit Hob Moor to appreciate its space, its cloudscapes (with skylarks singing!), its flora and fauna and its history. It is a very special place!
There is very great potential for members of the community to be involved in the activities of the Friends of Hob Moor in many different ways, according to each individual's particular interests, skills and spare time.

Located in the middle of Woodthorpe and Foxwood and until recently a privately owned woodland, Acomb Wood is being revitalised by an enthusiastic "Friends" group working in conjunction with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the Ward Committee. Their efforts have recently been rewarded by the designation of Acomb Wood and Acomb Meadow as a statutory Local Nature Reserve. New supporters are welcome and there are opportunities to help with the development of the wood in a variety of ways.

Parking and wheelchair access is available at the local shops at Quaker Wood car park with additional pedestrian access from Girvan Close.
