Over 8000 books to choose from, as well as videos, audio books, children's story tapes and children's videos. We have a small reference collection of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, medical and careers information; a large reference section is available at the Central Library - our staff can pass on your enquiry. Three computers for public use provide free access to the Internet, to computer based learning and to a range of software. An adult reading group meets monthly on Friday at 2.30 pm. The resources of all 15 libraries in the City of York can be accessed from Dringhouses.

Call in for a dual Library card / York card and more information. Find us next to the Fox & Roman and opposite the Holiday Inn.

The Mobile Library

The Mobile Library brings books and information to people who live some way from the local library. Our area is served on alternate Thursdays at the following places and times;
  Honeysuckle House 10.00 to 10.20 am
  Moorcroft Road, Woodthorpe 10.30 to 11.00 am
  Ryecroft Avenue 11.05 to 11.35 am
  Foxwood Community Centre 11.45 to 12.15 pm
  Bramham Road, Chapelfields 13.00 to 13.15 pm
  Lovel House, Dringhouses 13.25 to 13.45 pm
 
Access to the library can be by lift for those who have difficulty climbing the steps up to the vehicle. There are hand rails and seating inside. Helpful and friendly staff are ready to help you find what you are looking for from our 5000 books, special children's books, and adult and children's audio visual material.

We can obtain books from other libraries for you and you can return items from other libraries.
