Welcome to St Edward's

St. Edward’s is an active, lively Christian Church, seeking to worship God and be a centre of community in the Dringhouses area of York. Our wide range of church services and activities, are of particular interest to families with children.

The church building is normally open 5 days a week from 10am to 4pm for visitors.  You are very welcome to visit.

If you are  thinking about coming to St Edward's; want to arrange a wedding, baptism or event please see our Contact Us page.

If you want to find out more about the uniformed groups or youth and children's groups please visit our Youth & Children page.

Goodbye to Martin & Sue

As many of you know, our vicar, Martin, and his wife Sue are leaving us shortly as they move away from York and into retirement.

Sunday 23 July was Martin’s last Sunday in church at St Edward’s and In preparation for that day a collection was made for a thankyou gift.

A bring and share afternoon tea was also held that day, which was really well attended, with a number of spoken tributes, followed by a presentation to Martin and Sue.

We offer our thanks, prayers and best wishes to Martin and Sue for a long and happy retirement.

World Church dinner at St Edward’s Church Dringhouses on Saturday 2nd September 2017

Archbishop Winston Halapua

Archbishop Winston Halapua, one of three Archbishops of the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia is speaking at a dinner at St Edward’s Church, Dringhouses in York on Saturday 2nd September.

The dinner will be at 7.00pm for 7.30pm and held in the community hall. Tickets are £10 – available from the Parish Office at tel. 01904 709111 or by email at parishoffice@care4free.net

Climate change and the impact which this is having across the world is one of the most urgent issues which we are facing at this time. Archbishop Halapua will be speaking on the subject of climate justice which is one of his passions in mission  - particularly as parts of his diocese are literally disappearing into the sea as water levels rise. Before coming to York, he will also be speaking at the Greenbelt festival on this subject on behalf of USPG.

If you are unable to attend the dinner, Archbishop Halapua will also be preaching on climate justice at York Minister at 10am service on Sunday 3rd September. All are welcome to attend.

Christian Worship

Living our lives as Christians in the 21st Century, guided by the Bible, Church teaching, life experience, and mutual discovery.

We worship God the Father through Jesus his Son – our Saviour and Lord – enabled and guided by his Holy Spirit.

As a Church and as individuals we do our best to follow our various callings, under the Lord’s leading: worshipping, praying, and doing his work by community involvement in many ways, sharing the truth and love we receive from God.
